How do you play d and g power chords on a guitar?

I don’t how to do a G4 chord and a D power chord.
I’ve looked everywhere but nothing is really helpful so i think i need an actual person to help me out instead of just charts.(I’m a beginner and i don’t have a teacher yet)

Hello there,

Power chords are generally 2 note chords and usually played on the lower 2 strings. The first note is the root note of the chord. The second note will be on the next string, 2 frets up. You just move this arrangement around on the neck to get the particular power chord you want.

Take the G power chord. G is the 3rd fret on the low E string. The second note will be the 5th fret on the next string (on the A string).

D power chord could be played at the 10th fret of the low E string and the 12th fret of the A string. Al alternate way to play a D power chord would be using the A and D strings. 5th fret on the A string and 7th fret on the D string.

Here is a chart of the notes on the fretboard to help you.

If you are a beginner (we all had to start sometime), take a look at this series of video lessons at Youtube. This guy has a series of 12 video lessons and covers the basics pretty well. I think you can learn a lot from these lessons.
