Although many works now considered a pioneer in the genre were published in 1960 and 1970, the term steampunk has emerged in the 1980s as an alternative language in the playing the cyberpunk. He seems to have been invented by science fiction author KW Jeter, who was trying to find a general term for works by Tim Powers (author of The Anubis Gates, 1983), James Blaylock (Homunculus, 1986) and himself (Morlock Night, 1979 and Infernal Devices, 1987) which took place in a 19 th century (typically Victorian) agricultural and conventions of Victorian fiction imitates real speculative as The Time Machine by HG Wells. Steampunk was influenced by and often adopts the style of 19th century science fiction of Jules Verne, HG Wells, Mark Twain and Mary Shelley. Rudyard Kipling's "With e-mail night: a history of 2000 "and" Easy as ABC "could easily describe steampunk.

History

In general, this category includes any recent science fiction that takes place in a recognizable historical period (sometimes an alternate-history version of an actual historical period) where the industrial revolution has already begun but electricity is not yet widespread, with emphasis on gadgets steam or spring. The parameters are the most common historical steampunk Victorian and Edwardian eras, although some in this "steampunk Victorian "category can range from the very beginning of the industrial revolution. historical steampunk is generally based more towards science fiction fantasy, but there was a series of historical steampunk stories that incorporates magical elements as well. For example, Morlock Nights by KW Jeter revolves around an attempt by the wizard Merlin to raise King Arthur to save Britain in 1892 invasion of Morlocks, in the future. The Anubis Gates Tim Powers involves a cabal assistants among beggars and thieves of the underworld of early 19th century London.

Fantasy world

Miscellaneous items Modern utilities have been modded by amateurs in a pseudo-Victorian mechanical "steampunk" style. items include computer keyboards and electric guitars. The purpose of remodeling is to use appropriate materials (eg, polished bronze, iron and wood) with design elements and manufacturing in line with the Victorian era.
The group of artists Kinetic Steam Works has submitted a steam engine work Burning Man Festival 2006 2007. founding member, Sean Orlando, also created a Steampunk Tree House, which has been shown in several festivals.
In May, June, 2008, multimedia artist and sculptor Pablo San Jorge exposed outdoor interactive video installations linking London and Brooklyn, New York telectroscope in a Victorian style. Evelyn Kriete, a promoter and collaborator brass goggles, organized a transatlantic steampunk fans wave two cities in a few words before White Mischief Around the World in 80 steampunk theme day event.
In 2009, artist Tim Wetherell created a large wall piece for Questacon (The National Science and Technology Center in Canberra, Australia) which represents the concept of the world of watchmaking. This piece of steel gears in motion contains a working clock, and a film completion of the moon in the action. Moon 3D movie was created Antonio Williams.
The series Warehouse 13 Syfy inspired many steampunk objects and artifacts, including drawings created by computer steampunk craftsman Richard Nagy, aka "Datamancer."
From October 2009 to February 2010, the Museum History of Science at Oxford hosted the first major exhibition steampunk art, organized by Art Donovan and presented by Dr. Jim Bennett, the museum director. Gadget redesigned fantasy elements practices, the exhibition showed the work of eighteen artists worldwide Steampunk. The exhibition was most successful in history the museum and attracted more than eighty thousand visitors.

Culture
Due to the popularity of steampunk with goths, punks, Cybergoth, industrial music lovers, gamers and geeks, there is a growing movement towards establishing steampunk culture and lifestyle. Some fans of the genre make a steampunk aesthetic through fashion, decorating, music and film. This can be described as neo-Victorian, which is the fusion of aesthetic principles of Victoria with modern technology and sensibilities. Some have suggested a steampunk philosophy, sometimes with anti-establishment feelings in punk-inspired, and most often driven by optimism about human potential.
Steampunk fashion has no guidelines, but tends to synthesize modern styles influenced by the Victorian era. This may include gowns, corsets, petticoats and movements, jacket suits, coats and leggings, or military inspired clothes. Steampunk influence costumes often accented with a mixture of technological and accessories period: watches, sunglasses, and beam weapons fire. modern accessories like cell phones or music players can be found steampunk in costumes, having been amended to give the appearance of objects is Victorian. Steampunk fashion aspects have been provided to high fashion intensity, Lolita fashion and aristocrat styles, neo-Victorian and gothic subculture romantic.

The United Kingdom Steampunk Festival Weekend at asylum, bringing the main perpetrators of steampunk, artists, musicians and fans in general in the city of Lincoln in September each year. This a growing event, which draws participants from around the world. In fact, it is held, rightly, in a former Victorian lunatic asylum.
In February 2010, Knott's Berry Farm has announced via Twitter that its annual Halloween "Scary Farm" would be "Victorian Vampire Steampunk theme.
The first Expo Steampunk "(the name of world fairs of the 19th century) will be held on 14-16 May 2010, at the Hotel Radisson Piscataway, New Jersey. The three-day event will feature some of the finest craftsmen, writers, performers and musicians subculture.
