How can I write parts guitar harmony?
I am relatively new to the theory. I seek help on how to write harmony solos / duets, groups like X Japan, Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica, and Versailles. Not just a random interval, say one third, and the game of the third Part of each note of the melody? Sounds horrible.
3rds are great if you're in search of its type Avenged. but the trick is not to use an all intervals. Use intervals to complement each other and stick to the tone of the song that plays. instead of writing a line that is fully one-third above the melody, throw it into 3rds, 4ths, 6ths and octaves to spice up a little. but be very careful with 3rds and 6ths it is not modular in a different tone. unless you go for this, of course. hope that helps.
