How long before I can play metal like disturbed on my electric guitar?
I had my guitar for about a year,but about 3 maybe 4 weeks ago I started playing it. I practice from this dvd I practice just about every day from 1-2 hours a day. So far I can play little things like Jingle Bells, When the saints go marching in, um Amazing Grace, stuff like that. Everyday I try to learn another new tune. So how long do any of you think it will be before I can play actually metal? I really want to be able to play Down With The Sickness.
Like it’s driving me crazy everytime I hear that song and I can’t play it yet. Also, I’m learning how to read music notes from the dvd, too. If that’ makes a differnce.
Try finding a tablature for the song. If you’re not familiar with tab, it basically shows you where to put the fingers of your fret hand and which strings to play when. Purists look down their noses at it, but it’s a neat graphical way to help you learn the mechanics of playing a song. It sounds like you’re on the right track with learning to read music, so definitely keep up with that — it will pay off big-time in the long run. For now you can work on reading music, training your ears, and rocking out with songs through tab.
