Review of Intermediate Blues Guitar, Matt Smith
Intermediate Blues Guitar Workshop National Guitar is a package of books and CD tutorial who teaches the techniques of electric guitar blues. It covers both rhythm and soloing in a series of classic blues rock, boogie, funk and blues. The book presents techniques and examples, a number of blues legends, Kings – BB, Albert and Freddie, like Hendrix, Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
The method targets actors who have a basic knowledge of chords and scales in blues, rock guitar or know. The book presents a comprehensive review of the theory of music and the blues you can keep the debate in the rest of the book. If you have little or no experience in the blues, you will find the exercises quickly harden. Beginner Blues Guitar Book in the same series would be a better place to start.
The book covers the main themes that I'll describe below.
1. Blues theory
2. agreements Blues and rhythm game
3. Technical Blues
4. Scales and solos
5. Teacher Licks
Blues * Theory
To ensure that you can follow the notation used in the book a comprehensive introduction to the theory music and blues is presented. The explanations are very clear.
* Blues Chords and Rhythm
The book goes beyond the basic blues shuffle patterns of seventh chords and teach chord extensions and substitutions. You will become familiar with exotic names the ninth line, 11 and 13. These agreements are used in a variety of rhythmic styles from the deck of sketches funky blues.
There Nice lesson in R & B style full rhythm played by Vaughan, Hendrix and Curtis Mayfield. These new items should provide a good challenge.
Blues Technical
There is a short review of folding techniques and blues vibrato. They are widely used in the chapters on scales and solos.
* Scales and solos
The major and minor pentatonic scales are briefly described, but the book goes beyond the use base. It shows you how to mix the two scales and includes some notes of the chord. There is much information on the use of double stops (Two notes at once) with intervals of 3rds, 4ths, 6ths and minor double stops.
* Licks Masters
The last chapter is a lame example, six teachers blues: the three Kings – BB, Albert and Freddie – Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Blade describe the elements their styles you can learn and understand their own interpretation.
* Conclusion
This method is actually a step up from Blues Guitar Beginner Book series. Will need lots of practice time, but you'll be rewarded with great skill on the guitar blues, if you're patient. It shows how to play blues rhythm and lead from the deck at home in a slow funky blues alive and interesting.
The CD contains all examples of very high quality. Had been nice to include a somewhat more tracks for practice, but we must look elsewhere for ones.
