Production
Writing process
Metallica singer James Hetfield revealed that the group had played in the new materials, study sessions, but there was no mention of plans for a ninth studio album at that time. Select music the jam sessions can be used in album, as Ulrich said: "We certainly expect aa sifting through some of these things on our return studio in January. "In this sense, in October 2004 the band had already compiled nearly 50 hours of lock by default, with hundreds of riffs, progressions agreements and bass lines. On September 30, 2004, Launch Radio revealed in an interview with Hetfield group that hopes to return to the studio in spring 2005 to begin recording its ninth studio album for Warner Bros. Records.
March 10, 2006, it was reported that the group plans to use the next six months to write lyrics for the album, more than two months had already been spending writing music. Lars Ulrich also said that the group was much better in the studio he did during the recording of St. Anger. April 6, Lars Ulrich revealed the band had composed "six to seven" songs, (except for vocals), based on the results of the riff tapes recording during pre-series Loco anger with the World Tour. He said that at this stage, the group's new material was reminiscent of the "old school" works Metallica, and it certainly was not feeling like a St. Anger "part two."
On May 20, 2006, Kirk Hammett revealed that the group had written 15 songs and was written by an average of two to three songs per week. [Citation needed] James Hetfield also praised the producer Rick Rubin for his production style to give the group its own freedom and keeping the pressure at a minimum, despite the sessions becoming sometimes briefly blurred. May 27, Metallica updated their website with an informative video on the album. Lars Ulrich, who directed the video, said about the new album:
If you're in the studio, everyone assumes you're recording or make a record. The last time there was no real separation between the process of writing and recording process. With San no anger at all pre-recorded material or ideas but just do it in the place, being in the moment. So this time, we do exactly what we did in all the other albums: first we write, then start recording. The only difference is that we wrote on the document. So we write here at Headquarters, it is our home, We are writing in the study.
The registration process
Three studies were used to produce the album, these latter being Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, CA, Shangri La Studios in Malibu, California, headquartered in San Rafael, California. On January 1, 2007, Lars Ulrich said in an interview with the band Revolver conceive of the album as well as his albums before working with ex-producer Bob Rock, he was to write some songs, then go into the studio to record them. He also quoted current producer Rick Rubin said Rubin would not start the registration process until all the songs that were registration was also nearly 100 percent as possible.
On March 5, Ulrich revealed that the group had fallen by 25 to 14 potential songs, and they begin to record 14 songs of the week. [Citation needed] He also expanded on the style of Rick Rubin production, saying:
Rick is the most important in a so to have all these songs completely embedded in our bodies and basically next Monday, the D-Day, go and run. So the creative part registration process, so come in and just record a bunch of songs you know by heart and back, and you do not have to spend lot of energy in the recording studio and creating thinking and analyzing and doing all those things. Your analogy is all the registration process more fair to play a concert and leave all the thinking at the door.
On 14 March, the band's official website released a statement: "Metallica left the comfort of home this week to descend on Los Angeles to begin recording their album sessions original. This is the first time we've recorded outside Bay area after spending time one-on-One Studios Record of the Black album in '90 and '91 "This was confirmed July 24, 2008 (24/07/2008) mission. Metallica, a video showing the surface of the crew to enter Sound City Studios of Nirvana fame.
On June 4, bassist Robert Trujillo revealed that only selected elements of the two new songs debuted in Berlin and Tokyo, respectively, appear on the album. The group hopes I finished the album before October or November, when the album mix. He predicted the album would be in February 2008. He also revealed that working songs are quite long.
On February 2, 2008, according Sterlingsound.com it was discovered that Ted Jensen of Sterling Sound Studios would be mastering the new record. [Citation needed] According to Blabbermouth.net and other sources, Greg Fidelman, who had served as a sound engineer, was also chosen for mix album.
Ulrich confirmed May 15, 2008 that Metallica recorded 11 songs for Death Magnetic, but only 10 appear on the album because of limitations the physical environment. The eleventh song "Shine" is a song Hetfield around a Layne Staley type, a martyr magnetised by the rock death roll. "
Several new songs from Death Magnetic, which said "Shine" but also "To Hell and Back" and "Game", they were off the record, but is rumored to be released as B-sides or on the next album. The titles were confirmed by Hammett and Ulrich MetOnTour video in December 20, 2008.
Album Title
Guitarist Kirk Hammett has also played an important role in inspiring the title, when he presented a photograph of the deceased Alice in Chains Layne Staley to the studio where Metallica was recording. "This image has been there for long, "Hammett said:" I think that the psyche is invaded by James. "You wonder why someone with so much talent to choose this path, Hetfield began writing a song based on your questions (the new song "Shine").
July 16, 2008, Hetfield commented on the album title:
Death Magnetic at least the title, for me started as a sort of tribute to the fallen in our business, like Layne Staley and a lot of people died, mostly rock and roll martyrs of all kinds. And then one type of growth from there, think about the death of people are attracted by him, and only one magnet, and others who are afraid of him and push. So the idea that all die sometimes is too often talked about and then never spoke anyone ever wants to implement is the big white elephant in the living room. But we all have to face them at some point.
The title refers to the "My Apocalypse." According to Hammett, another title in mind the album was Songs of suicide and forgiveness.

It is currently unconfirmed whether Metallica or Warner Bros. will have any claim against the seller, but drummer Lars Ulrich, who was questioned about the leak in a radio station in San Francisco, said:
We are ten days news. I mean, from here, we are golden. If it's leaking around the world today or tomorrow, happy days. Happy days. Trust me. Ten days of rest and has no quotes abandoned the truck yet? Everyone is happy. It is 2008 and is part of what is today, if all goes well. We're happy.
He later said the United States Today
By 2008 standards, it is a victory. If you had told me six months ago that our record does not leak until 10 days that I entered. We made a great album, and people seem to be out of it much more than expected.

The reviewer refers to a BitTorrent where someone altered the original songs. The reviewer explains exactly where to go to download the file that totally infringes copyright. It is not only illegal file, but an altered file. The reviewer also wrote that it is and the CD should have sounded. File sharing music is illegal. Period. There is nothing to discuss. The fact that Sydsvenskan has a writer that has downloaded this music illegally and then referred to an illegal site in his review is totally unacceptable to us.

In a 2007 interview with Rolling Stone, Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum described his impressions of the unfinished songs:
Lars is a good friend of mine. I played the demos from San Francisco, and he turned and looked at me and said, 'Master that shit and outside. It ridiculous. The demos were sick. eight-minute songs, all these tempo changes, crazy fast. It's like, 'Dude, do not get slower as we age, but do not go any faster!? How you gonna play this live? "And then me and Lars were partying all night and had to go into the studio the next day and this stupid song nine or ten minutes, and I laughed at him because I played the demo of it, and it was [sings really fast drum] part so quickly. I called and said, "Dear friend, How are you feeling? "He was like, 'Dude, I suffer." They reduce everything to the band, no fucking Pro Tools live, do not click.
first single from the album "The Day That Never Comes", was described as the worst on the album [Citation needed] and is said to remind of their epic 1990 breakthrough Grammy Award-winning single "One", [citation needed] Rock Sound has been compared to the likes of Thin Lizzy. The group has abandoned the approach no solo followed by St. Anger, the return to complex arrangements several layers as normally found in the fourth album by the band … And justice for all.
Death Magnetic has been hailed by fans and critics as a return to Metallica after St. Anger widely criticized. Thrash Hits was one of the first websites, with The Quietus comment on Death Magnetic which suggests "is a big improvement over 2003 album St. Anger." Metal Hammer has noted in "heavy riffs" Death Magnetic "rebound rare grooves, and compares the band's sound throughout these six tracks to other bands like Slayer, Led Zeppelin and even Rage Against the Machine. Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy has praised the album, which he said "Death Magnetic is definitely the best Metallica album in 20 years. It the CD that I waited for them since then, and justice for all. And thumbs up to them to make the first real Metallica contributed 20 years since "To live, you die. "Welcome, boys."
While Metallica was the first leg of their 2008 tour in Europe, a third Q Prime management by requiring that print-making positions and for undetermined reasons. However, when advised to return the United States, the band was irritated by the demands of their reports, administration, and drummer Lars Ulrich remedy this problem by publishing numerous links Metallica as you can find on his official website, with apologies.
Reviews for the album were generally positive. Allmusic reviewer Stephen Thomas Erlewine gave the album four stars out of 5, indicating that the file is like "its audience like Metallica again." Other positive comments come from publications such as The Guardian, who say that the album is "the strongest material the band wrote in 20 years" and without cuts, stating that "like all the best heavy rock albums, suspending their disbelief, demands your attention and connects directly with his inner teenager.
