What do the circles and X’s mean on the top of a GUITAR CHORD drawing? [picture inside]?

Ok the hollow O means thats a open note you do strum it when you are playing the chords
the X means you do not play that string, people mute the string they do not need by hovering the fingers over the top of the string, not so its pressed down but lightly resting on top of the string.
If you want to mute the E string you put your thumb over the E string, this also makes some chords easier to play.
