My fingers hurt from playing guitar?

I broke my ankle this holiday season and I missed my brain, so I decided to take the guitar. Yesterday I played literally all day and this morning, my fingers really hurt. My father told me to soak their fingers in alcohol or something to harden the tips, but I want some more ideas before you follow his advice. All other tips …? 🙂 Thank you x

This is normal because calouses begin to form after a time (not touching) the absolute best way to deal with this rubbing alcohol so I would follow the advice of his father (: (which is what I do every time I take the guitar and my fingers hurt)
