I prefer Elixir strings, keeping his tone more than other chains, and they have less rope / hoop noise than others, which would be an advantage for beginners. Just get thin lines, for a new player, which would be the best place to start. Most of the guitar strings are sold as extra light, light, medium, heavy, etc. You can experiment with different widths as more experience. Find what works best for you. But start with light. This is the norm. Have fun!
