What is a good place to learn about the theory of guitar music?
I guess I do not understand the scale, how someone wrote their own songs, etc.

A scale is just a map of all the notes in a particular key. A key to more or less standard contains seven letters. The key level is affected more or less the seven notes are guitar or other instrument.
